VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Alain Vigneault is two games away from becoming the 22nd coach in NHL history to achieve the 1,000-game milestone, a club that’s an exclusive one, indeed.
But there is another, even more exclusive club of which Vigneault is already a member, but this is one he is looking to bust out of in June.
For Vigneault, who will look to get to 999 Wednesday night against the Canucks team he led for seven seasons immediately before moving to Broadway for 2013-14, is one of just seven coaches in NHL history to get to the Stanley Cup finals more than once without winning the chalice.
