A history of the number 13 and the New York Rangers

Friday the 13th. It’s not just a horror film, it’s an actual phobia with a name, triskaidekaphobia, fear of the number 13. Is there any reason for the New York Rangers to be afraid of that number?

When the Rangers play on Friday the 13th, bad things tend to happen. The last time the team won a game on Friday the 13th was December 13, 1996 when they beat the Sabres in Buffalo. Mike Richter was in goal and Wayne Gretzky had two assists. Since then, they have played five times on that fateful weekday and have lost four times and tied once.
