Zack Wheeler shut down due to workload

Mets manager Mickey Callaway said on Wednesday that Zack Wheeler has been shut down for the rest of the season due to the right-hander's high workload, not health.

Next to Jacob deGrom, Wheeler has been the Mets' best starter, especially in the second half, going 9-1 with a 1.68 ERA in 11 starts. The 28-year-old was three innings shy of matching his career high of 185 1/3, set in 2014.
