JUPITER, Fla. — Zack Wheeler’s 2018 season was bad enough that his ERA still hovered near 5.00 in late June.
This spring, Wheeler said, he is looking to find the zone he was in during the second half of last season earlier this time around. Wheeler closed last year on an 11-start run in which he went 9-1 with a 1.68 ERA.
“My goal is to get there right now, but I have more reps to figure itself out,” said Wheeler.
He’s not there yet, as Wheeler battled his command Sunday, a day after Noah Syndergaard dealt with the same issue.
