The Mets’ pitching philosophy last year was finding pitchers who had interesting traits or were once great but have struggled and trying to fix them and bring their best qualities out. They nailed it multiple times over, with Sean Manaea going from having been moved to the bullpen during his season with San Francisco to being the Mets ace in a deep playoff run, or Luis Severino going from an fall from grace with the Yankees to a solid mid-rotation option who will be looking for a good contract this offseason. So it stands to reason they may look to try that again with a new crop of pitchers.
