The newly acquired Wilmer Font got the start of the Mets and was solid in his debut. He gave up only two runs but once again it was the offense who struggled. Tomas Nido hit his first home run of the year, but when he came up with an opportunity to tie the game in the ninth he did not come through. He ended the game and the Mets ended their road trip with a 1-5 record.
The Mets’ pitching depth is still paper thin, but Wilmer Font did his job in the finale against the Padres.
