The Mets don’t have to worry about Yoenis Cespedes getting stuck in traffic. The team’s big in-season addition is so excited — and, most importantly, healthy after a recent scare — for October baseball, he wouldn’t let anything get in his way.
“I am 100 percent ready to start this battle,” he said Tuesday.
This comes as ace Matt Harvey missed Tuesday’s mandatory workout because of traffic and after the fan base’s near meltdown when Cespedes was hit by a pitch and suffered bruised fingers last Wednesday. Cespedes returned to the lineup Saturday and had two hits in parts of three games against the Nationals, easing concerns.
