Yoenis Cespedes left the Mets' game against the Phillies on Wednesday night after being hit by a pitch in the left hand/wrist area.
Cespedes appeared to be in significant pain after Justin de Fratus' pitch in the third inninghit the knob of his bat, then ricocheted back to him. He was taken out of the game and went to the clubhouse.
Cespedes had been on a tear for the Mets since being acquired at the July 31 trade deadline, hitting .287 with a .331 on-base percentage, 12 home runs and 44 RBIs in 53 games.
Kirk Nieuwenhius took Cespedes' spot in centerfield.
