PORT ST. LUCIE — Yoenis Cespedes never had heard of Goose Gossage until Thursday, but surmised he was a pitcher when apprised of the Hall of Famer’s bombastic comments.
In an ESPN interview, Gossage ripped Jose Bautista and Cespedes for showboating on home runs.
“Bautista is a f—ing disgrace to the game,” Gossage said. “He’s embarrassing to all the Latin players, whoever played before him. Throwing his bat and acting like a fool, like all those guys in Toronto. Cespedes, same thing.”
Cespedes, who played three innings for the Mets in their 7-2 exhibition victory over the Cardinals, defended his actions.
