Joe Girardi hasn’t managed a game since the 2017 postseason. He and the New York Yankees were eliminated in that year’s American League Championship Series. After that, his contract expired and the Bombers decided not to retain him moving forward.
Two years later, Girardi could very well have another opportunity on deck. Ultimately, the man who had a huge say in not retaining him, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman, is endorsing the potential hire of Girardi.
