Wright thinks he’ll play in 2018, says he has no issues with Mets

David Wright has three weeks to go to play in a game this season, and on Saturday, after he played in a simulated game at Citi Field, he expressed confidence he will be able to get into a lineup and that Mets doctors will clear him physically to do so.

“I think so,” Wright said of whether he thought he’d get the OK from the organization to complete his comeback. “The communication has been fantastic. There’s been an open dialogue. I want to play and understandably, there [are] some hurdles we have to clear before that happens.”

One of those hurdles, according to Wright, will be a meeting with team COO Jeff Wilpon to figure out what the third baseman’s path will be for the final weeks of the season.
