Since reporting to Tradition Field earlier this month, David Wright has been taking infield practice and hitting in the batting cage at Tradition Field, Terry Collins told reporters Monday.
According to Collins, Wright is expected to begin throwing later this week.
Wright, 34, had season-ending neck surgery last June after playing just 37 games, prior to which he was managing chronic lumbar spinal stenosis, which limited him to just 38 games in 2015.
As of now, Collins said the Mets and Wright have yet to discuss the details of his playing time, though he hopes they can meet soon to create a formal plan.
