Wright plays third for first time in rehab stint

NEW YORK -- David Wright took another tangible step forward in his rehab from spinal stenosis on Tuesday, playing the field in a game for the first time since April. Wright finished 1-for-3 at the plate with a single, and is 2-for-6 overall in two games for Class A St. Lucie.

Perhaps most importantly, Wright fielded two bunts and a slow roller on defense, turning one of those three balls into an out.

Wright has now received seven plate appearances at St. Lucie, about a quarter of the way toward his stated goal of approximately 30.
