NEW YORK -- By the time David Wright made the short walk from the Mets' dugout to the on-deck circle on Friday, Citi Field was abuzz. As he went through his stretching routine, crouching, briefly, then high-stepping each knee into the air, nearly everyone in the park was standing.
Wright's absence from the Major Leagues -- two years, four months and one day in all -- came to an end in the fifth inning Friday, when he grounded to third on the first pitch he saw from Marlins starter Jose Urena. It was his first big league appearance since May 27, 2016.
