Wright, looking to bounce back, took grounders Monday in St. Lucie

Mets 3B David Wright took grounders on Monday in Port St. Lucie, fielding but not throwing.

Wright, who turned 34 years old in December, began baseball activity last month in Virginia.

He had season-ending neck surgery last June after playing just 37 games, prior to which he was managing chronic lumbar spinal stenosis, which limited him to just 38 games in 2015.

The two conditions are unrelated, Wright and team doctors have repeatedly said.

Wright has no intention of retiring. Instead, he told the NY Post's Kevin Kernan last month that he intends to play, play well, and help the Mets win a World Series.
