Wright is open to working out at 1B

Mets 3B David Wright could get work at first base later in Spring Training, Terry Collins told reporters Tuesday afternoon at Tradition Field in Port St. Lucie.

However, for now, Wright will remain at third base, where he has yet to throw a baseball since having season-ending neck surgery in 2016.

"If we decide he needs to get some ground balls at first base that stuff can be done late in spring training," Collins said. "He's such a good athlete he'd catch on to that easy."

Wright later said no one has talked with him about a potential position change, though he's open to whatever Collins asks him to do.
