WASHINGTON, D.C. -- David Wright had stood in the quiet, defeated clubhouse in Marlins Park Sunday after a crushing loss, his his arms across his chest while denying that the Mets were at all distracted. Matt Harvey’s innings limits brouhaha, mounting injuries and the surging Nationals were not going to derail this team, the Mets captain said.
Wright explained that the overriding characteristic of this team is resiliency.
“Seems like after every tough loss, there’s a nice win,” Wright said. He was right.
With a strong showing from the bullpen, the Mets rallied behind Wright in the seventh for a 8-5 win over the Nationals in a Labor Day matinee at Nationals Park.
