Wright has shoulder impingement, will not throw for a couple of weeks

Mets 3B David Wright has been diagnosed with a right shoulder impingement and has been sent back to New York to be examined, GM Sandy Alderson told reporters on Tuesday.

Wright does not have structural damage in the shoulder and surgery is not necessary, but he has been shut down from throwing for a couple of weeks.

Alderson added that Wright's status for Opening Day, which is April 3 against the Braves, is questionable.

Wright played in his first Grapefruit League game on Saturday, going 0-for-2 as the DH during the team's 8-6 loss to the Nationals.
