For the first time in history, the World Series entered into a delay because FOX Sports lost its broadcast feed during the bottom half of the fourth inning Tuesday night in Game 1.
With Mets starter Matt Harvey dealing on the mound, having retired six consecutive Royals, technical difficulties caused FOX to lose its feed. That prompted Major League Baseball to delay the game because the outage meant there was no video replay available.
Joe Torre, MLB’s chief baseball officer, consulted with Mets manager Terry Collins and Ned Yost of the Royals and both teams agreed to proceed without replay available.
