World Series 2015: Making Mets history

On Tuesday night the Mets take on another hungry team — each seeking its first world championship in a generation. The Queens boys have been waiting since 1986, the Kansas City Royals since ’85.

“We’ve been through bad times,” Mets captain David Wright recalled after sweeping the Cubs to win the National League title. “We’ve been through Septembers where you’re just playing out the schedule, and that’s no fun.

“To be able to completely reverse that — 180 — and now celebrate. . . That’s an emotion that I’ll never forget.”

Reversing it all the way won’t be easy: The Royals are a tough team, pristine on the fundamentals so vital in postseason play.
