For much of their series finale against the Red Sox tonight at Citi Field, the Mets were holding on to a narrow lead. By the ninth inning, however, things were very much under control, and the Mets won 8-3 to complete a three-game sweep.
Jesse Winker opened the scoring with a grand slam in the bottom of the first, and in the end, that would have been enough for the Mets to win. But thanks to the three runs that Tylor Megill allowed in the top of the third, that didn’t feel like a sure thing.
