CHICAGO — Wilmer Font wasn’t much in his auditions as a starter for the Mets, but in the bullpen, he can’t go wrong.
The right-hander continued his dominant relief work Thursday, with three shutout innings in the Mets’ 7-4 loss to the Cubs at Wrigley Field. Font entered in the fourth inning, after starter Walker Lockett was knocked out in the third, with Brooks Pounders finishing the inning.
In seven relief appearances since arriving in a trade with the Rays last month, Font has pitched to a 0.69 ERA. In three starts with the Mets before moving full-time to the bullpen, he had a 7.
