NEW YORK -- The New York Mets activated Wilmer Flores from the disabled list before Sunday’s series finale against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Fellow infielder Matt Reynolds was demoted to Triple-A Las Vegas.
With David Wright sidelined with a neck issue for at least the next couple of days, Flores will start at third base and bat sixth against left-hander Clayton Kershaw.
Assuming Wright avoids the disabled list, Flores is expected to see a fair amount of time at first base against southpaws, with James Loney handling that position against right-handed pitching in Lucas Duda’s absence.
