Related Topics: Willie Mays, Charlie Williams

Willie Mays, one of the undeniably greatest players to ever play Major League Baseball, died today at the age of 93.

There are no words that can be said here to properly place Mays in his historical context. A 12-time Gold Glove winner, a member of the 3,000 hit club, a four-time stolen base champion, a stellar power hitter (660 home runs), a two-time MVP (11 years apart), and a first-ballot Hall of Fame-r (with 94.7% of the vote), Mays was as complete of a baseball player as has ever been seen.

For Mets fans, Mays has a special place in our fandom.
