PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — A catcher is vital to a pitching staff, and Mets right-hander Noah Syndergaard offered high praise for Wilson Ramos, the free-agent backstop Brodie Van Wagenen signed after being turned down by Yasmani Grandal.
“Wilson Ramos behind the plate is a guy who can control the running game, he really adapts to his pitchers, and he also can mash the baseball,’’ Syndergaard told The Post on Tuesday at Mets pre-camp. “I think the lineup is going to be a force to be reckoned with.’’
Controlling the running game is an issue for Syndergaard as he continues to try to be more fluid to the plate.
