Why true sports fans won’t — or, can’t — boycott their team

Last week, we took a look at the most patient fan base in the history of New York sports, the Brooklyn Dodgers.

(And, at the top, a correction: The “Flock” newspaper headlines used back in the day referred to the team itself, not the fans. There are still more than enough Dodgers fans around these parts to have made certain a kid born 10 years after they left should know that. Duly noted.)

We just have a different definition of patience. We are louder now. Angrier. Tickets that cost 50 cents in the good days of Ebbets Field cost 50 bucks now — and that’s if you get a good deal on StubHub.
