When the Mets headed north from spring training, most of the discussion concerned the pitching. But manager Terry Collins was just as excited about the lineup.
“When you looked at our lineup [then], we knew the middle was going to look like that and we knew they’d hit,” Collins said, adding with the now-injured David Wright and Travis d’Arnaud joining the likes of Curtis Granderson, “it was a pretty nice lineup. We’ve asked some guys to move around a little bit but when those three guys are swinging the bats we can be dangerous.”
Those three guys are the middle of the order, Lucas Duda, Daniel Murphy and Michael Cuddyer, a trio coming off a terrific three-game sweep against the Phillies, success the Mets hope carries over to the series against Miami starting Friday at Citi Field.
