PHOENIX — Terry Collins saw no obvious option for the 11th inning on Wednesday, so the Mets manager rolled the dice on Rafael Montero.
And the result was snake eyes — or maybe Diamondback eyes.
“I just have to keep on working, the good results are going to come,” Montero said after surrendering a walk-off homer to Chris Herrmann in the Mets’ 5-4 loss at Chase Field.
Collins said he wanted to avoid using Hansel Robles in that spot because of the right-hander’s recent workload, and he was saving Paul Sewald for a save situation.
