Once the first pitch is thrown Friday at Citi Field, last year will be completely behind the Mets.
“We need to start worrying about this year,” David Wright said Thursday, after the Mets received their NL Championship rings during a private clubhouse ceremony that included Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
So the Mets will watch the NL Championship banner get raised before the first pitch of the sold-out home opener — with John Franco, Edgardo Alfonzo and Rusty Staub as the honorary hoisters — and conclude a semi-victory tour that lasted five-plus months.
A full victory tour is the next goal.
