PORT ST. LUCIE — Right about a year ago, here at Tradition Field, I wrote about whether Matt Harvey could be the Mets’ version of Alex Rodriguez. The guy whose larger-than-life persona could provide cover for teammates less comfortable in the spotlight.
The answer proved to be, “Not quite, albeit through no fault of Harvey’s.”
Now, this year’s question phrased purposely to troll Mets fans: Can Yoenis Cespedes be this club’s Roger Clemens?
Clemens, among myriad other accomplishments, holds an unofficial, wonkish distinction: He put together the best consecutive walk years in baseball history.
