Zack Wheeler was long tossing with Josh Edgin on Thursday morning as part of his rehab from Tommy John surgery.
Sandy Alderson said on Tuesday that the team has held Wheeler back during his rehab process due to their knowledge about Tommy John surgery, among other things. Wheeler is expected to be ready by July 1, Alderson said.
Wheeler is sporting the tell-tale sign of Tommy John surgery: A curved scar on the inside of his throwing elbow.
As expected, pitching coach Dan Warthen was standing behind Wheeler as he threw, as well as other coaches positioned around him to watch his motion.
