Mets righthander Zack Wheeler pitched in a game Saturday for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery last year, going one hitless inning for Class A St. Lucie against Bradenton.
In the same game, reliever Jim Henderson allowed one hit and struck out a batter in scoreless inning as he resumed his rehab stint.
Wheeler threw 17 pitches, 11 for strikes, with his velocity between 90 and 96 mph. He walked one and allowed one unearned run. He was scheduled to pitch the first two innings before the game was delayed by rain after the first inning.
