What Tylor Megill threw in his first start of 2025

Tylor Megill’s first start of the 2025 season went very well last night in Houston, as he gave up just one run in five innings, struck out six, and walked one in the Mets’ 3-1 win. Coming off a strong finish to his regular season last year, it was exactly the kind of start you’d like to see from him.

In his start, Megill threw five pitches, per Statcast, and here’s how many times he threw each one.

  • Four-seam fastball: 39
  • Sinker: 18
  • Slider: 16
  • Curveball: 3
  • Changeup: 1

He finished four of his six strikeouts with the slider, which means a whopping 25 percent of his sliders thrown were put-away pitches.
