These are the quiet times for Todd Zeile.
Zeile sits in SNY’s World Trade Center studio watching the first game of the Subway Series doubleheader on Tuesday in the green room.
“Looks like that one’s leaving the yard,” he remarks offhanded as Gio Urshela launches a home run off Zack Wheeler.
It’s back to his normal routine now as the Mets’ studio analyst, spending the games preparing for the postgame show alongside Gary Apple. But earlier this season, Zeile was SNY’s pinch hitter, stepping into the booth when Ron Darling missed seven weeks, first to have surgery on a mass in his chest and then to deal with thyroid cancer.
