What to expect from Kevin Plawecki

In the wake of Travis d’Arnaud fracturing his right hand, the Mets will promote Triple-A C prospect Kevin Plawecki for Tuesday’s game at Citi Field against the Braves.

“He’s going to play,” manager Terry Collins said Sunday about Plawecki. “Can he handle it here? We will most likely find out.”

MLB.com recently ranked Plawecki the No. 63 overall prospect and sixth-best catching prospect in baseball.

“Offensively, expect a lot of contact,” according to MLB.com’s Jonathan Mayo (April 20). “Plawecki does not strike out much,” “He’s always hit for average,” and, “He’ll draw a fair share of walks.
