JUPITER, Fla. — There is sadness, but no surprise.
The Mets opened camp two-plus weeks ago with hope in their hearts. And with a sturdy Plan B.
Again we arrive at a crossroads for David Wright, his latest comeback sidelined due to an impingement in his right shoulder, the Mets announced Tuesday. Again we digest the possibility the Mets’ captain has played in his last major league game and the probability that he will never return to being a regular, productive player.
Wright’s setback — a “pretty big” one, in the words of his manager Terry Collins — doesn’t impact the club’s championship ambitions by any significant percentage.
