MIAMI — The Mets’ rotation could become a six-pack within the next week.
With rookie Corey Oswalt pitching at a respectable level and Steven Matz potentially on the verge of coming off the disabled list, manager Mickey Callaway said Friday that a six-man rotation is under consideration.
Oswalt is scheduled to start Saturday in Matz’s place for a second turn through the rotation. The lefty Matz, who has been sidelined by a flexor pronator strain in his arm, is expected to throw a simulated game at Marlins Park.
If Matz passes the test, he could rejoin the rotation for Thursday’s doubleheader in Philadelphia, according to Callaway.
