The Mets' pitching staff is so outstanding that the reigning Rookie of the Year managed to improve on basically all facets of his game, and still got overshadowed. Jacob deGrom, proving handily that his out-of-the-blue domination in 2014 was no fluke, was the Mets' best pitcher last year and has every chance to repeat that impressive feat.
DeGrom's 2.54 ERA last year was fourth in the National League, bolstered by an excellent walk rate and more than a strikeout per inning. If anything, that number might have even been inflated by a spike in home run rate that isn't really explainable by anything other than luck.
