Dodgers infielder Chase Utley will not be suspended for his questionable slide into Ruben Tejada during Game 2 of the NLDS, the Los Angeles Times reported this past weekend.
Tejada's leg was broken due to Utley's slide, who later appealed his initial two-game suspension.
The suspension was rescinded because the rule had been inconsistently enforced in the past, a source told Kristie Ackert of the Daily News.
"He has never intended to hurt another player," Utley's agent said, after learning that his client would not be suspended.
And, that's the thing, that's the line that keeps sticking out to me, as it did back in October when Utley said the same thing.
