At the start of June, it seemed like the Mets were on the fast track to the bottom of the standings and an eventual sell off. Instead, after a blistering June that has seen the offense post the best wOBA in baseball (.379, 152 wRC+) while going 16-7, they’re now firmly in the thick of the wild card race. Only 2.0 game separate the Mets from the Cardinals for the third wild card spot, with the Padres only a half game ahead of that in the second spot. A playoff spot is firmly within reach.
That’s an exciting turn of events of course but does muddy the waters as we approach the trade deadline.
