It's hard not to get a little sentimental this week, especially if you're a child of the '80s (guilty) who had the keep the volume down on the little black-and-white TV (and now we're really dating ourselves) to make sure you didn't wake up your parents.
The reward, at 12:30 a.m., was Late Night with David Letterman, and Stupid Pet Tricks and Viewer Mail and all the other gags and uncomfortable interviews. Letterman is retiring this week, and while he's already been replaced with young and more social-media friendly hosts, he'll be missed.
One of the best parts of having Letterman host his show in New York all these years is that it was easy to have New York athletes or New York sports bits on the show.
