Steven Matz allowed six runs in the first two innings and the Mets woeful hitting with runners in scoring position cost them in a 9-5 loss to the Yankees on Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium.
In case you missed it…
- The Mets had 12 baserunners in 3 2/3 innings against Yankees starter Chad Green but scored just three runs. They grounded into three double plays in the first three frames, two by Wilmer Flores¸ who had a brutal game on both sides of the ball.
- Matz (8-8) allowed three runs in the bottom half and then three more in the second on Mark Teixeira's three-run homer.
