In their penultimate home game of the season, the Mets scored a couple of runs relatively early and got seven scoreless innings out of Taijuan Walker. But after Walker allowed a couple of baserunners in the seventh, Seth Lugo took over and allowed both of those runners plus one of his own to score, putting the Mets behind. The team didn’t overcome the one-run deficit.
Given the relatively meaningless nature of the game, it wasn’t all that frustrating. But it felt like the type of game the Mets would have lost to the Marlins even if the season hadn’t already fallen apart and it had instead been a meaningful game in September.
