Walker Lockett to start for Mets on Thursday

The Mets announced will call up right-handed pitcher Walker Lockett to take the mound Thursday at Wrigley Field against the Cubs in place of the injured Noah Syndergaard, according to Mike Puma of the Post.

Lockett, who is 25 years old, was acquired in the offseason in the trade that sent Kevin Plawecki to the Cleveland Indians. He has a 3.24 ERA in 24.2 innings in Syracuse this season, though he has struck out just 3.3 batters per nine innings in that time.
