The longtime super agent, suddenly switching sides to be a Major League Baseball general manager, knows what you’re thinking.
“I am not the path of least resistance,” Brodie Van Wagenen said in his opening statement Tuesday as the new Mets GM. “I am confident that Mets fans can understand and believe that this will be a great partnership going forward.”
The 44-year-old welcomed the major job transition at Citi Field, becoming the most unlikely decision-maker in baseball. He wooed Mets owners Jeff and Fred Wilpon into the unorthodox move.
“What stood out were some of the bright ideas he had,” Jeff Wilpon said.
