The Mets split the series with the Cubs by coming back twice in dramatic fashion to win 7-6 in extra innings.
Adrian Houser started for the Mets and, despite the results, had one of his better Met starts thus far. That’s not high praise, nor was the start all that good. Houser went five innings, walking four and giving up a three-run home run to Christopher Morel that put the Mets down 4-0.
After being blanked for the first four innings, the Mets got a pair of runs against Long Island native Ben Brown in the fifth when Brandon Nimmo and Starling Marte each drove in a run on singles.
