Welcome to UnforMETable, an Amazin’ Avenue Audio show that looks back on less heralded, more obscure Mets players from the past.
The 2006 Mets came within a two runs of winning the National League pennant and making it to the World Series for the first time since 2000. The 2007 Mets came within a game of making the postseason. In 2008, history repeated itself, as the team was eliminated from postseason play on their last day of the regular season by the Florida Marlins for the second straight year. With Jose Reyes and David Wright emerging as budding stars, a third homegrown phenom would have made all the difference, and that was exactly what Brian Cole was expected to be.
