Welcome to UnforMETable, a new show from Amazin’ Avenue that looks back on less heralded, more obscure, but quintessential Mets players from the past
This week, Rob Wolff travels back to the mid 1990s, as the Mets tried to build on Generation K by bringing in a couple of veteran outfielders, including Bernard Gilkey—would would go on to have one of the great single seasons in Mets history—which led to one of the great movie cameos in Mets history.
Post-Men in Black, Gilkey hung with the Mets for a couple of more seasons, until the acquisition of one Mike Piazza indirectly led to his departure from Queens.
