Welcome to UnforMETable, an Amazin’ Avenue Audio show that looks back on less heralded, more obscure Mets players from the past.
Adam Wilk was signed prior to the 2017 season as an option for rotation depth or as a possible left-handed option out of the bullpen. But Wilk was unexpectedly pressed into action when the team suddenly needed a starter after suspending Matt Harvey for failure to report to a game on time.
Wilk had to travel across 5 states in 24 hours, taking a redeye to New York, landing and reporting directly to Citi Field to take the mound—only to endure a drubbing at the hands of Giancarlo Stanton and the Marlins and get unceremoniously designated for assignment the following day.
