Welcome to UnforMETable, an Amazin’ Avenue Audio show that looks back on less heralded, more obscure, but quintessential Mets players from the past.
Doug Flynn spent the first two years of his major league career as a member of one of the greatest teams in history—Cincinnati’s Big Red Machine of 1975-76.
With the late-70s Mets flailing and feuding with their biggest star, Flynn would come to the Mets as a piece in one of the most infamous trades in Mets’ history—the Midnight Massacre that saw Tom Seaver sent away from the franchise.
After a rocky beginning, Flynn settled in as a light-hitting middle infielder with an impressive glove.
